Lent is the season for repentance, a word which is nowhere better defined than by the prophet Joel in today’s 1st Reading. “Come back to me with all your heart.” “Coming back” involves a “turning.” turning away from our own selfish, ego-centred lives and turning towards our God who “..is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, rich in faithful love…” It’s a turning of the “heart” that God asks for: “Tear your hearts and not your clothes..” This Lent let us all resolve to seek the Lord with all our hearts.
