The reign of God

Jesus noticed how the guests at a meal picked the places of honour for themselves. He points out to them the danger in this. Jesus is inviting people to reflect on the deeper meaning of the reign of God. Places in the kingdom are for God to give as a free gift, not for us to take for ourselves as our right. Can I allow someone else to be chosen ahead of me and their gifts acknowledged? Can I celebrate their gifts?
