A cup of water

My mother gave a cup of cold water to an old woman who came to our door. As young children, we used to tease this woman and then run away from her. At home, we avoided that given cup for a long time afterwards. Today’s readings call us to an inclusive, hospitable attitude. Listen to Jesus’ words. They may seem harsh in your context. What do you hear him saying to you? What actions do his words inspire in you? Listen for how you are being invited to include those on the periphery of your life.
