Parables

Jesus tells his disciples why he speaks in parables. With the benefit of hindsight, we know why. A parable is not rigid law. It is a flexible story that will make a personal connection with us. It may have one meaning this year. Another meaning five years hence. Actually, we can read all scripture two ways: for information, and as parable that invites God to speak to our heart. We refer to the latter method as lectio divina.
