Be at peace

When we read Bible stories as parables, they speak to us of our own journey with God. The Israelites find their freedom but rejoicing doesn’t last long. With the first setback, they wish they were back in Egypt. Moses reassures them, telling them to be at peace and leave the fighting to God. I can relate to that! In my human love of comfort I’ve failed to see God in discomfort. Only now do I see hardship as part of a greater gift. I call it the giving of the left hand of God.
