Moral Perspectives

Today’s Gospel reminded me of two statements made by Father James, the Parish Priest in the powerful movie “Calvary”. “We (the Church) place too much importance on vices and not enough on virtues”; and “We place more emphasis on sins of commission than on sins of omission”. There is a Scribe and a Pharisee lurking in each of us. Christ lives in us so in judging the actions of others we should constantly strive to see with his eyes and judge with his heart.
