Justice

We’ll celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ very soon. The Jews waited generations for this. Some thought of power, riches, kingdoms. Their prophets hoped for more important benefits-peace, wisdom, integrity and justice. The pain of injustice rankles down all the generations. Note old family feelings about land clearances in Scotland, Ireland and Aotearoa. The hurt is still strong. St. Joseph wished to act in justice towards Mary. They were betrothed. She was pregnant. Not to Joseph, but by the Holy Spirit. He didn’t suspect her of sin, but was afraid of interfering with God’s plan for her, by marrying her.
