Genealogy

A surprising gospel – the whakapapa of Jesus, through Joseph, Maternal genealogies were not kept. Mary’s line would have no records. To fulfill the prophesies of old, Jesus needed Abraham and David as ancestors, to qualify as the Messiah. So Jesus, though the Son of God, assumed the bloodline of Joseph, Mary’s husband. Joseph was of the line of David. Joseph should be the patron saint of foster-parents and grandparents. Such love and generosity of spirit is most praiseworthy.
