Tall Poppy Syndrome

When John baptised the Lord Jesus, the Holy Spirit came down and remained on him. Because of this, he had every right to apply Isaiah’s words to himself and say, “The Spirit of the Lord has been given to me.” Nor is it any wonder that his hearers were astonished at the gracious words he spoke since his message was Spirit inspired. Astonishment was their first reaction. Their second was to put him down. “This is Joseph’s son surely.” Do I have the love in my heart to applaud the good that others say and do no matter who they are?
