St Monica

2 Thessalonians 3: 6-10, 16-18: Ps 128; Matthew 23:27 -32

Perseverence

The opening words of today’s psalm must surely apply to St Monica. When she began praying for her wayward son, she could never have known it would take seventeen years for her prayers to be answered. Nor could she have imagined God’s amazing response. He rewarded her patience and persistence with more than she could ever have dreamed possible. When we’re tempted to give up praying for our loved ones, let us remember this saint and pray to her for perseverance.
