Sunday 27 July

Seventeenth sunday in ordinary time

1 Kings 3:5, 7-12; Romans 8:28-30; Ps 119P; Matthew 13:44-52

Good example

Jesus was an inconspicuous young man from Nazareth. He did not arrive with bands, tickertape parades or armies to enforce his message. His disciples likewise were inconspicuous - fishermen, tax collectors, labourers, sinners. Not the sort likely to attract votes in our elections. Each one would ensure the message reached out to nations. God’s message still needs to be spread Are there ways we can do it? Just by being a reaching out to our neighbours could be a start.
