Psalm 42, 2 Kings 5:1-15,
Luke 4:24-30

A song of tears

If the psalms were all happy songs we would sing them on sunny days, but dismiss them as irrelevant on days when depression wraps itself around us. Psalm 42 is a very human psalm, a song of one who feels abandoned by God. Exiled from his homeland or prevented from attending worship because of illness, he is like a thirsty animal in a dry place. He thirsts for God but all he tastes are bitter tears. Yet God directs a song of love towards him. May you hear the song of love that God sings over you today.
