Perfect love

In todays’ beautiful first reading Moses tells the Israelites of God’s promise: they would be God’s own beloved people if only they would listen to him and keep his commandments. In the gospel however, Jesus takes things further. The old commandments are not enough, we are called to love, not just our friends and neighbours, but strangers, even our enemies and those who hurt us. But Jesus also tells us why; because the Father loves us all, good or bad, saints or sinners. Jesus is the perfect reflection of his Father, and we are called to follow him. Can you do it? Can I?
