Christmas Eve

2 Samuel 7:1-5. 8-12, 14-16, Ps 89, Luke 1:67-79

The stage is now set for the birth of Jesus.

John the Baptist is born and his father Zechariah praises God. The Saviour’s coming was promised by the prophets. God has remembered the covenant made with the people that they would be saved from their sins. Young John the Baptist was to be the herald of Christ, who showed us “the tender mercy of our God who will bring the rising sun to visit us.” Am I prepared for the great feast tomorrow? Will I have time to give Jesus my thanks for coming like the “rising sun to visit us?”
