The Almighty has done great things for me

Mary’s song of thanksgiving is clearly modelled on the Canticle of Hannah which is today’s Responsorial Psalm. Mary in her canticle notes and praises God who has changed the balance of life. God has raised up this lowly handmaid. She who was powerless has been greatly blessed by the Saviour. God’s mercy reaches to those who deeply revere him. God has championed the cause of the lowly, filling the hungry with good things and has fulfilled his promises. At Mary’s intercession our Saviour will favour me too.
