He must grow more

Someone once said to me “we can do great things for God provided we don’t mind who gets the credit.” John the Baptist was one of those people. Although Jesus praises him in today’s Gospel, John was quite happy that some of his disciples went to Jesus, he pointed Jesus out to them, and he made that very unselfish remark about Jesus which is a template for our Christian life “He must grow more and more, I must grow less and less.”
