Is 40:25-31, Ps 103, Matthew 11:28-30

My burden is light

I was once struggling up Mt Roy, which is on the western side of Lake Wanaka, and at one stage my companion looked up and with a despairing moan uttered, “Oh no, not more!” Being a disciple of Jesus may be an uphill challenge at times, but Jesus invites us to go to him with all our burdens for he is gentle and humble of heart. The yoke of Jesus fits well across our shoulders because it is made for us and is comfortable. I might have a steep hill to climb and a load to carry for Jesus, but the pack on my back is comfortable and with Jesus’ help the burden is light.
