COMMEMORATION OF THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED

Isaiah 25:6-9, Ps. 26:1-4, 7-9,13-14 Mark 15:33-39, 16:1-6

From darkness to light

It is consoling to read that Jesus struggled with death –“My God, my God, why have you deserted me?” Consoling, because we know he can identify with the struggle we have with our own mortality and with the grief we experience when someone we love dies.

Much more consoling is the news the angel gives the women that Jesus is alive, that he has risen from the dead. As the sun rises this morning pray for those we know who have died, that they may live eternally in the light of the resurrection.
