Friday 14 September
Triumph of the Cross
Numbers 21:4-9, Ps 78, Philippians 2:6-11,
John 3:13-17
The cross is a symbol of blessing. It is found in churches, schools, homes, hospitals, cemeteries and at the side of the road. We make the sign of the cross when we pray. It helps us to focus our mind and heart on God. But it’s more than that. The cross is a symbol of love, compassion and forgiveness. At baptism we are sealed with the sign of the cross. We belong to Christ. “Yes, God loved the world so much that he gave us his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not be lost, but may have eternal life.” Today you are invited to slowly pray the sign of the cross.
