Ps 59; Jeremiah 15:10, 16-21; Matthew 13:44-46

Perseverance

Alphonsus suffered from ill health and was left paralyzed from rheumatic fever. Worse was to follow when he was denied authority over his congregation. In spite of his depression he carried on with his remarkable deeds. You might like to reflect on an excerpt from one of Alphonsus’s prayers. “Take, O Lord, and receive my entire liberty, my memory, my understanding and my whole will. All that I am and all that I possess You have given me: I surrender it all to You to be disposed of according to Your will.”
