Mere Children

Why are children more receptive than the learned and clever? Perhaps because their minds are more open; they still accept what trusted adults tell them.

Sometimes the very old seem to return to that same place, the trouble comes in between. I find, as I grow older, I have to fight a tendency to become mistrustful and cynical, which can disguise itself as wisdom.

Could we pray today for true wisdom and the childlike simplicity which is open to what Jesus may choose to reveal to us?
