A hidden shame

The woman with a haemorrhage not only suffered pain and distress from her illness, she was also cut off from her community. Her issue of blood made her unclean according to the law. No wonder she was fearful when Jesus asked who had touched him. No doubt she was afraid not only of his reaction but that of the crowd as well.

How many people today carry burdens of secret shame or distress? Could we pray for them today, and also for the grace to recognize and respond to their needs.
