Leaning on me

Imagine that. Leaning on the breast of Jesus.

To hear his heart beat.

To feel his rising and falling with every breath.

To smell the saltiness of his sweat.

To be cushioned on the warmth of his flesh.

I feel envious.

But I forget it has happened to me …

I was feeling exhausted, curled up, longing for God to hold me. My youngest came to the door and said, “Mum, I need you.” “See your Dad.” Later, “Mum, now?”. Similar response. A third time, he climbed onto the bed and embraced me.
