A flawless image of God

“Jesus came that we might have life, and have it to the full.” John’s gospel begins by portraying Jesus as the Eternal Word that bestows life on all that is. In coming into this world Jesus then emptied himself of so much of who he was. In this way he became as it were an absolutely uncluttered image and mirror of God, as well as the model and example of what the fullness of life actually is for us all.
