Holy Saturday

Matthew 28:1-10

Tonight, Matthew’’s gospel recounts that, “Mary of Magdala, Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices with which to go and anoint him.” Elizabeth Rooney in her poem Easter Saturday writes:

“…Anger relaxes into despair as we remember our helplessness, remember him hanging there. We have purchased the spices but they must wait for tomorrow. We shall keep today for emptiness and sorrow.”
