Imbibing the words of Jesus

Just as Jonah had been God’s sign to the people of Nineveh, and the Queen of Sheba had recognized the wisdom of King Solomon, Jesus was God’s sign to the people of his time, and they did not recognize him. When I hear the words of Jesus, the message of God proclaimed to me in the Scriptures at Holy Mass, I listen to them carefully, repeat them in my mind, try to take in what is being given to me. Your words, O Lord, are spirit and life for me.
