The rhythm of the Christian life.

When the disciples came back from their mission they were worn out from the demands that crowds had made on them. Jesus asked that they come with him to a lonely place on the other side of the lake and enjoy peace and rest for a while. I’m not good at taking a break from the demands of my calling. Constant activity is a danger. To be still for a while and be with God in the quiet, to recharge my spiritual batteries with God’s presence, with God’s graces, with God’s love, is to be strengthened for my vocational work.
