Defending the innocent

Speaking up for others, particularly the innocent when they are in need of defence, can involve great courage, especially when the person who is charging the defendant is an important person in our society. Blessed are people who help those in need in this way. Not only do they help the innocent person, they also help the persecutor. They do this by confronting the persecutor with their sin and perhaps saving their relationship with God. Lord, be with those who defend the innocent, and save their persecutors.
