Mother of the shepherd

Mary,

Forming in your womb
the heart that would seek;
the feet that would search;
the arms that would carry
the lost to the fold.
The one who would give his life
for his sheep
causing all heaven to rejoice.
Mary, help me be alert for his voice.

How genuinely do we rejoice over
the one who turns his or her life
around?
Are we ready to trust them
and welcome them back to the community?
