Chosen and called

In the first century, when young men wanting to learn from a rabbi were looking for a teacher, they sought one out and then made a decision that he was the right one for them. Jesus, however, chooses to seek out Simon and Andrew in the midst of their daily activities. He calls them with authority they find irresistible, and they respond with total obedience. On one level, we choose to follow Jesus. Am I aware, though, that on a deeper level, it is Jesus himself who has chosen and called me, long before I ever knew him?
