Living with uncertainty

Perhaps Jesus was concerned that his disciples might misunderstand his words to the Pharisees in yesterday’s gospel. Yes, on one level the reign of God became present through Jesus. But much poverty, pain and suffering remain. Jesus also promises a future radically transforming moment. Meanwhile, Jesus expects us to continue our ordinary lives. When and where the Son of Man will come are unproductive questions, as they will only be able to be answered after the event! It is only after an animal dies that the vultures gather to feed. Does our faith enable us to live with this uncertainty?
