Is my commitment limited?

Today, employees are protected by law, but first century slaves had limitless obligations. However much obedient service they gave their master, their work was never done. Jesus makes clear here that we can never put God in debt to us. However much we do for God, we have simply done our duty. This could sound discouraging. Instead, it reflects the fact that our relationship with God is not like an employment contract, with legally fulfillable limits. Rather, our relationship is meant to be built on love – and love sets no limits. Do we set limits on our commitment to God?
