Co-workers in Christ Jesus

Romans chapter 16 begins with Paul’s commendation of Phoebe, deacon of the church at Cenchreae. Paul then continues, as our first reading shows, with greetings to a large group of significant Christian women and men. Prisca and Aquila, a married couple, were important co-workers with Paul, and teachers of Apollos. The name Junias is virtually unknown outside this context, and is often today seen as referring to a female apostle called Junia, this name being widely used in the ancient world. Do we value the ministry of all those who work together in the service of Christ?
