Romans 8:26-30, Ps.13, Luke 13:22-30

Valley of tears

A hard teaching to accept. It speaks of the hardship of the ‘kingdom life’. It also speaks of the importance of maintaining links with heaven where my life began. Turning away from sin towards the freedom to choose not to sin is a hardship too costly for many. It is precisely the hard won freedom from the power of sin that Jesus gives to me and seeking this freedom will be, at the end of the day, how he knows me or not. Casual dining with Jesus is not enough. I must enter into his suffering too.
