Give alms

A pause in proceedings for Jesus to get some kai. At this mealtime he yet again tells me what is necessary for the kingdom to come into existence. Rules and rituals are important in social life especially around a table. Giving alms to the poor tends to open me up to a the hard world where love is needed more than rules. When I find myself being proud of keeping all the rules can I reach inside myself and find there a daring spirit of almsgiving which nobody will see?
