Lord, I am Not Worthy

Like the Centurion, we too are aware of our unworthiness, our personal faults and failings. Yet despite that unworthiness we actually presume to seek intimacy with God! What audacity! Why should God bother with us? Why should God want a relationship with us? Because, quite simply and quite inexplicably, God truly loves us, each and every one of us. Paradoxically the more worthy we think we are (pride), the weaker our relationship with God will be; the more we accept our unworthiness (humility) the deeper our relationship with God will become.
