Making each day count

None of us know exactly how long we will live. The psalmist prays that we may know the shortness of our lives so that we may grow in wisdom; wisdom which causes us take each day as it comes and to live fully each day. Jesus suggests we stay awake so that we do not miss the hour when the Master will come. To stay awake is another way of saying ‘become aware’; do not be lulled by the noise and distractions of life into a kind of dullness of mind and spirit.

“In the morning, fill us with your love; we shall exult and rejoice all our days.”
