Thy Kingdom come

How often we pray this prayer, “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done.” Today’s first reading and the gospel reading challenge the sincerity of our prayer. To enable the coming of the kingdom requires our co-operation. We may be reluctant to let go and to make changes in our lives that allow the kingdom to come among us. We fail to see the kind of kingdom that Jesus is talking about when we see life from our perspective only.

What image or bias do I need forego in order to play my part in bringing about the kingdom of God?
