Judges 6:11-24, Ps. 85, Matthew 19:23-30

What about us?

Gideon wanted personal reassurance that the angel of God was who he said he was and God through the angel did not fail Gideon. The disciples asked “What about us? We have left everything and followed you. What are we to have?” And Jesus did not fail to reassure the troubled disciples that they would be rewarded beyond measure. Both Gideon and the disciples found their respective messages rather hard to believe and they became troubled and afraid for themselves.

Where in my life would I like to ask Jesus for a sign, for some reassurance of his love for me?

“The Lord speaks of peace for those who turn to him in their hearts.”
