Lord save me!

When the food banks are empty, when we lose our jobs, when floods or earthquakes rob us of our homes and possessions we are fearful for our lives and our livelihood. Like Peter we call out “Lord! Save me!” Jesus holds out his hand to us through the hands of others who respond to our call with help and a listening ear; with food and shelter. Do I recognize Jesus in those hands? Do I give thanks? Jesus called out to them, saying, “Courage! It is I!”

When I hear the call for help do I in my turn lend a helping hand?
