Fourviere Day
(Marist family)

Exodus 24:3-8, Ps 50, Matt 13:24-30

On 23 July 1816, 12 seminarians climbed the 800 steps to Notre Dame de Fourviere in Lyon to place their Marist project under the protection of Mary. Like the people of Israel placing their offerings on the altar, they put their promise and their names on the altar of the Chapel. Only 4 of the original group carried on with the project, but the idea was alive on that day. I thank God for those faith-filled Marist pilgrims, and the men and women who made their dream a reality.
