Master of the Sabbath

The whole point of Jesus defence of his disciples’ action is that some laws are more important than others, and the lesser value must give way to the weightier. This is a point never understood by fundamentalists of every hue. Charity (love) trumps everything else in Christianity, and a lesser value e.g. liturgy, must never prevail over kindness in word and deed. “What I want is mercy not sacrifice”. Do I ride my hobby-horse rough-shod over everyone else?
