Love in action

How can we possibly love our enemies? Clearly not in the same way we love our nearest and dearest. The love Jesus is talking about today is a matter of will and of action. We may not feel loving but we can act lovingly, and surprisingly often the feelings will eventually follow. This, after all, is how God behaves towards us; his blessings and his gifts are poured out regardless of whether we are good or bad. God’s love does not discriminate, his generosity has no limits. Let’s make a start today by praying for someone we find hard to love, who knows what will happen if we take the first step.
