Old Age

We are not all called to be martyrs, but Jesus’ words to Peter apply to almost everyone. If I live long enough I too will not be able to go where I like, to do what I like. Infirmities, physical or mental, will increasingly bind me. This is the reality. I need God’s grace to accept these diminishments willingly, to offer them as my gift to God, all that I have left to give. Let us pray for all those who are old, or growing old, who feel lonely and useless, and ask for eyes to see and a heart to reach out to them.
