St Philip Neri

Philippians 4:4-9; Ps 33; John 17:20-26

The Letter to the Philippians counsels that “if there is anything you need, pray for it, asking God for it with thanksgiving.” This advice is to Christians assembled in church. Imagine hearing the ardent prayer ‘of one of your own’ in need. It wouldn’t be easy to ignore! This letter is prompting us to respond to the needs of others. Thank goodness for saints of great compassion like Philip Neri.
