Acts 6:1-7; Ps 32; John 6:16-21

The barque of the church is being buffeted about in both main readings! In Acts, Christ crosses the ruffled waters to resolve the division between the Hellenists and Hebrews through a meeting of “the whole assembly.” The Twelve recognize that their principle duty is “the word of God” and in order to promote that, they hand over the duty of the distribution of bread. Where divisions exist amongst us today, can we ask, ‘What is our crucial duty, and for its sake, what will we, on our part, hand over,’ let go of?
