We are known by God

Jesus lived in a specific time and place. So it is not surprising that he knew Peter would deny him three times. It was common, and accepted, practice to tell lies to avoid trouble. Everyone did it.

Perhaps what overwhelmed Peter was realising how well Jesus knew him. Jesus knows us that well too. No need for masks or charades.
Nothing is hidden from the one who created us.
No thought or action or feeling is unknown to God.
And yet, we are still loved.
Unconditionally. Unceasingly.

What is my response to this love?
