2 Kings 5: 1-15; Psalm 42
Luke 4: 24-30
Keeping holy the Sabbath day.
“Jesus came to Nazareth and spoke to the people in the synagogue.” (Luke 4: 24)
It was Jesus’ habit to observe faithfully the synagogue worship on the Sabbath day (now Sunday for Christians). He never omitted uniting himself to God’s worshipping people on God’s day. I hope that I may be always faithful in acknowledging the primacy of God in my life at Mass on Sunday. Jesus promised salvation to all, something which enraged his Jewish hearers who considered themselves God’s only people. I enjoy the catholicity of the Church at Mass on Sundays...people from all over the world united in worship, praying together, listening to God’s word, receiving Christ in Communion.
