Matthew 5: 20-26.

Be reconciled first.

Anger is a natural passion of ours. It is natural to be angry when we are seriously upset. It is how we handle the anger that is important. To tell someone why we are angry is fine. To ‘shoot them down in flames’ is not. Being a disciple of Jesus is about being like Jesus who always looked past people’s shortcomings, looked into their hearts, met them there, and brought them back to God. We need to let go of anger. We can take our hurt to God. God can change our hearts. “At the evening of our lives,“ St John of the Cross said, “we will be judged on love.”
