Election of new Superior General

It has just been announced that Fr John Larsen sm has been elected the Superior General of the Society of Mary



Fr John Larsen, a member of the District of Asia, was born in 1955 and entered in the Society of Mary in New Zealand in 1976.

He taught for five years at St. Patrick’s College, Silverstream, previous to volunteering for the wider mission of the Society.

In 1985 he began his ministry in the Philippines, Myanmar and Thailand. He has been involved in parish ministry, prison chaplaincy, retreat work, education – formal and non-formal – programs, health care for HIV/Aids, migrant ministry as well as leadership and formation.

He has many years of experience as novice master and formator, both in philosophy and theology houses in the Philippines, Thailand, and in recent years in the Marist International Theologate in Rome.
